The Labour & Birth Embrace

From 37 weeks, I will be on-call 24/7 until your baby arrives.

Whether you choose to birth at home, in water, or in hospital, I will support and advocate for your choices, providing evidence-based care and gentle guidance.

For home births, I will provide full midwifery care throughout labour and birth, alongside a second midwife you’ll meet in advance.

For hospital births, I will remain by your side as your advocate and emotional support, ensuring you feel calm, confident and informed to make your choices.

After your baby’s arrival, I’ll stay to support you through the Golden Hour, to help establish feeding, and ensure you’re both settled and comfortable before rest and recovery begins.

I’ll visit again the next day to begin postnatal care and remain available if you need support in between.

The Postnatal Embrace

Promoting restoration and recovery, as I hold space with you to offer gentle, 'new beginnings' postnatal care in the first days with your new baby.

This typically includes:

3–4 home visits to support you with the transition to bonding with, feeding, and caring for your newborn in the first week

Newborn assessments (NIPE check and Day 5 heel prick screening) will be offered to ensure you are fully informed when it comes to screening for your baby

You will gain complimentary access to my 'Little Lifesavers' Baby First Aid digital course, covering basic first aid, how to recognise an unwell baby and safe sleeping

A complimentary newborn hamper from TrulyGiftsUK

Ongoing emotional and physical wellbeing support from myself throughout, including signposting to trusted local and online resources

A follow-up feeding session (with a Lactation Consultant/Feeding Support expert around day 4–6 postnatal) to iron out any feeding challenges if needed

At the end of the first postnatal week, I do offer extended postnatal care options available to cover your fourth trimester upto week 4-6 depending on needs.

These can be specific IE feeding (Nurture & Nourish), support following a casarean, and more.

What Do My Clients Say About Me?

If you are still undecided whether you want to go ahead, why not take a look at what my previous clients say about recieving my care.

Testimonial 1

I am incredibly grateful to have had Laura as my Midwife during my pregnancy and birthing experience. She was amazing at creating a welcoming environment that allowed me to feel comfortable and supported always! Throughout my pregnancy at the Midwife appointments Laura took the time to listen to my concerns and answer all my questions. Her knowledge of maternity care really made the whole experience special!

The support I recieved during labour was incredible. Laura was there every step of the way, providing encouragement and helping me through my severe anxiety and worries of the birth! For my partner also, she was a massive support! After the birth Laura continued to check in on me and my baby, which was so lovely and needed! I highly recommend Laura to anyone wanting a caring and knowledgeable midwife. Her dedication and passion for her work made our experience unforgettable, and we will always be thankful for the role she played in bringing our beautiful baby girl into the world. 🩷

Thank you Laura for eveything you've done Xx

Laura is an amazing Midwife, I couldn't and wouldn't fault her at all she's amazing, kind and caring and very patient. she explains everything with such care and compassion and she has a kind soul and is great at her job. She puts everyone at ease and answers every question you need or want to know. Laura helped me with my conditions and my anxiety and depression she's so patient with you not just as a patient but an an individual, I've never met anyone in a Midwifery team as great as her and I would highly recommend her for anyone whether it be your first, second or even tenth time. I'd choose her any day of the week because she will be the biggest supporter, I couldn't be more grateful to have met her in my lfie, let alone have her through my pregnancy. So thank you Laura for being such a wonderful Midwife, you out do yourself everytime, bringing the upmost respect and care to your patients. I wish you all the best in your endeavours.

- Kimberley, Mother of 2

Testimonial 3

I was so lucky to have Laura as my Midwife for 2 of my pregnancies, as soon as I found out I was pregnant with my last, she was the only Midwife I wanted looking after me and my baby, she always made me feel comfortable. I had C-Sections for both and she always made me feel instantly calm, she would go beyond what was expected, coming to appointments if my partner couldn't make it, she was always on the end of the phone no matter the time of day, even now 8 months after, we still keep in touch, I'm so grateful she was part of my journey, she will always have a big place in mine and my families heart ❤️ 💙

- Shamera, mum of 3

Frequently Asked Questions

If the FAQ's below don't answer your questions, please get in touch or book a discovery call with me, which can offer reassurance, clarity and certainty.

Question 1: How can I pay for my care package in installments?

Once we have had a discovery call, and you've taken the time to read through my Client Care Agreement, I will email you the link to pay, you can simply click this to book the individual package you require using the 'Pay in Installments' option. This will direct you to the GoCardless website and will prompt you to set up a direct debit for the payment installments for the package you have chosen. If you have any problems with this, don't hesitate to contact me and I can assist you further with this.

Question 2: Why do you have a 2nd Midwife attend the birth?

To ensure I can continue to provide ongoing Continuity-of-Care to you and your partner throughout birth, a second Midwife will attend to capture times, documentation and help with extra support if needed, this is also to ensure we are meeting our insurance obligations. Please feel re-assured that I will have organised for you to meet the Midwife before the birth to ensure consistent faces are present.

Question 3: How is this care different to NHS care?

As an Independent Midwife I'm in a really unique position that I can choose how many clients I take on my caseload at one time, this gives me the opportunity to build trusting relationships with a small caseload of women and provide Continuity of Care throughout, ensuring you are always seeing the same Midwife, and then I will be on call for you from 37 weeks and will continue to support you in the postnatal period. I also have the advantage that I am not set to a time limit for appointments so I can give up to two hours for an apppointment, in the comfort of your own home, at a time to suit you and your personal circumstances. A NHS midwife can be bound by time restrictions, availability and staffing constraints, so its likely you may see different midwives at different times. I also have more of a focus on the low risk side of pregnancy and birth so my ethos is trying to keep things as intervention free and as low risk as possible to keep you and your baby safe.

Question 4: What if I have a Miscarriage or change my mind about continuing with the birth?

Pregnancy and birth are unpredictable, and sometimes we aren't sure what is best and thats ok, a lot of thought and support is essential in these situations, you can choose to cease care immediately with me and will only pay for the care recieved unless you are past 36 weeks (as per myclient care agreement terms and conditions) or you can continue to benefit from some ongoing support for reflection, coping strategies and navigating what comes next.
